Notes for William Huddleston:
1850 Franklin Co, Ohio Pleasant twp Census page 49[John C. POTTS & Descendants.FTW]

Received of W. T. Henderson administrator of the Estate of Mahlon Huddleson deceased four dollars in full of my portion on distribution as one of the legal heirs of the above Mahlon Huddleson.
July 22nd 1854 William Huddleson

In 1860 William was between wives: Nancy had died in the 1850's; he didn't marry Ruthanna Hambleton until 1861. The 1860 Franklin Co. Pleasant Twp. Harrisburg PO, O. census shows him living with Richard Vanhorn and his wife Priscilla and their son Willie E. William was 45 years old.

William was first buried in the Little Pennsylvania Cemetery, in Grove City, Ohio. Not very far from the home of my good friends, Priscilla and Chuck Williams. In fact, Priscilla found the cemetery for me.
Then, by the provisions of his third wife's will, Almira, his body was moved to Galloway Cemetery. This is according to family story heard by my cousin, Betty (Stone) Hill.

I visited Little Pennsylvania Cemetery in April 2001 and found William & Elmira's tombstone there. So I doubt that the above story is true. Other members of William's family are buried in Galloway Cemetery, which is a newer one. Little Pennsylvania Cemetery is in poor condition. Many stones are broken; some have been thrown over the hill; one must walk up from the London-Groveport Road. There are also Atheys buried there. Also many prominate families whose names are on roads and streets in Grove City. Supposedly maintained by County Trustees.

I have notified the Ohio Cemetery Preservation Society; E-Mail: ohcps@aol.com, of the poor condition.

  Notes for Nancy Layton:
[John C. POTTS & Descendants.FTW]

Nancy died between 1850 and 1860 according to the census. William remarried in 1861 to Ruthanna Hambleton. She is buried in Little Pennsylvania Cemetery with her family, next to William and third wife, Almira. I have no idea where Nancy is buried. Perhaps on the old farm without a marker. Three young children survived her: Stephen, James Henry and Mary Louise.

Wayne Co. Ohio's seat is Wooster. It is northeast of Franklin Co. O. and south of Cleveland, O. I don't know why they were married there. Their first child, Martha/Maude was born in Ashville, Pickaway Co. OH. Quite a move!
