| The name Rutherford automatically establishes kinship with a fairly closeknit group of people who first appeared by that name on the borders of Scotland. Marriages between the Scot and English, primarily to settle the border disputes, were consumated in the 17th Century and we find the Rutherfords were among those who married and settled in Northunberland county, England, as well as the original tree from Jedburgh, Roxburghshire Scotland. Having researched my family, I start with Robert Rutherford, 1634 in Essex County, Virginia and follow to Robert Jr; John, William, Finney, Dulaney, William C. etc.. Any further information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share any information that I have. I also have the great works of William Kenneth and Anna Clay Rutherford Volume I and II dated 1986. |
