PERSONAL: In the 30's on South State street Uncle Charlie ( C.M.) Ryals and his wife Aunt Mae operated the IDEAL cafe. Next door to his cafe was Uncle Zuck's Barbershop. That was in the same block where Jitney Jungle and Dyer Seed & Feed Store was located. Then sometime later ,probably during the war years, he moved his cafe to South President Street, across from the Central Fire station, and City Hall. With that move, Uncle Zucks moved his barbershop into a little brick building farther down S .President near the Old Capitol Chevrolet Co. From: Henry H. PERSONAL: Nickname "Zucks" - ran a barber shop in Jackson most of his life. At one time, maybe late 20s/early 30s, the shop was the largest in MS with 20 chairs. Isaiah's brother Charlie (Charles M.) had a cafe next door for years. This info from James Edward 'Jim' Ryals in an email, 7 Oct 1998 <slayr@cfi.net>. He got it from his (Harrison) cousins who lived in the same area.
