PARENTS: In the 1911 Confederate Veterans Census, Henry Clay Cummings stated that his father, Jim Campbell Cummings was born in Sparta, White Co TN, the son of Joe Cummings. The Cummings families living in White/Van Buren counties in TN are descendants of/related to Joseph Cummings, Rev. War veteran. His family has been thoroughly researched and I've never been able to connect James Campbell Cummings to either Joseph Cummings Sr or his son, Joseph Cummings Jr.
BIRTH: Approximate date from census records; listed as age 23 in the 1850 census.
DEATH: Date unknown, last known living Independence Co AR 1870
MARRIAGE: Lic issued 24 Feb 1843; Recorded Van Buren Co TN Marr Bk 1, pg 9. (copy in file) If the 1850 census age is correct, he would have married at abt age 16 -- very young for a male to marry.
