BIOGRAPHY: Thomas Hampton of king william and Caroline counties, Virginia Father of John Hampton Sr. who is the father of John Hampton Jr. whos is the father of Mary Hampton. She married Joseph Dejarnette, the father of Daniel Dejarnette who is the father of Robert Elliott Dejarnette who married Cordelia Fauntleroy Burke, the daughter of John Muse Burke and Sophia Francis Woolfolk who also are the parents of Thomas George Burke. He married Mary Isabella Garnett, they being the parents of one Robert Hampton Burke who moved to Beaver, Utah sometime after 1870 where he married Agnes Low, parents of Robert Emmett Burke/ married Alice Adelia Leahy, the Parents of William Hampton Burke, my (Gerald William "Jerry" Burke, father and Ruth Elaine Nielsen my mother. I mention R.E. Dejarnette because my great, grandfather Robert Hampton Burke was listed in the Virginia 1860 and 1870 Censuses as living with Mr. Dejarnette, his uncle. In the same Censuses Robert's mother Isabella Garnett Burke and his sisters were listed as residing in a different household. There is no mention of Thomas George Burke, his father, my great-great grandfather. I am very coureous as to his whereabouts during this time frame. I assume he has died sometime before 1860. Mary Isabella Garnett is also a mystery as to her origin. I do see though where many of the family names come from, i.e. Hampton, George, Woolfolk, Thomas, James (from the Low's). I wonder if my uncle, Ronald Leroy Burke got his middle name from a shortened version of Fauntleroy the maiden name of Apphia Gray's mother Sarah. Apphia was the wife of Thomas Burke, father of John Muse Burke.
