The John Patrick Ryan Family Home Page
Research focuses on the descendants and ancestors of John Patrick Ryan and his wife Hannah Freeman, both of whom emigrated to the United States in the late 1880's. Anecdotal testimony indicates that they were motivated to make the move since the marriage was disapproved by both of their families. He was a bricklayer, later contractor; she, a homemaker. They lived all of their lives in Tarrytown, New York, where the children (it is believed) were domestics for the Rockefeller family. To complete the classic Irish stereotype, the next generation was heavily involved in law enforcement, in Yonkers and other Westchester communities. |
