WELLS FAMILY OF GUYSBOROUGH, NOVA SCOTIA AND GLOUCESTER, MA

The first WELLS arrived in Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Canada circa 1799 or 1800. The first recorded land transaction date is September 18, 1800. Many WELLS were mariners, at least four became captains of vessels. Four were lost at sea in the 19th century; one was from Guysborough, three from Gloucester MA(source - downtosea.com).

A Boston branch has been gathering in December since 1981. Last year, about 200 relatives were in attendance. A wider gathering of WELLS took place on Cape Cod in August 2001 and was attended by over 100 relatives who arrived from Brithish Columbia and Nova Scotia,Canada and many states of the USA met.

There now are more than 1000 names recorded on this family tree as of April 19, 2002.
