The Michael Ryan and Winifred Lambert Family Home Page

Updated September 5, 2000

I am currently researching all of my lines and those of my wife.
My father's family has been primarily residing in Otsego County(primarily around Cooperstown), and elsewhere in upstate NY, for the last 200 years. Prior to that he is descended from Pilgrims John Benjamin (landed 1632) and William Chase (landed 1630). In all, the surnames which i am most actively searching for in connection with his family are:
RYAN, SMALL, COLE, HOKE, SHAVER, COUNTRYMAN, CHASE, SHAW, CAULKINS, BENJAMIN, EDDY, CLARK, COOKE, YARRINGTON, WILEY, RICHARDS, KIMBALL, CRONKITE, BYARD, ECKLER, HELMER.

My mother's family come from two widely separated origins. Her mother's family were farmers, primarily from IL and OH, but stretching back from there to VA and MD. Primary focus of research is centering around Sangamon County, IL and Pike County, OH. Surnames for this branch are: ANDREWS, HUNTER, MURPHY, DOWNING, McGEE, BARTON, DAVIS, ELSEY (ELZY), CARSON (CASON).

Her father's family emigrated in the early 1900's from what was Galicia, Austria (now south-east Poland). They lived in the villages of Gillershof, Ranishau, Steinau, Baranowka, and Lukowa. The names associated with this family are: BIRNBAUM, ROLLWAGEN, SPATTA, SCHMIDT, WAGNER, GEVRY, SGIERS, WOLF, KURY, SCHOTT.

My wife's family also comes from two widely separated branches. Her mother's family had come from, primarily, the area around Dubois County, IN for the last 100 or so years. Names for this line are:
HULL, BECK, BRETZ, AUST, CUNNINGHAM, RAY, SHERMAN.

Her father's line was from the New Hampshire and Quebec. New Hampshire faily, this century and last, were centered in Cheshire County. Quebec family lived in several areas, dating back to the 1650's, but primarily around Yamaska, Tilly, Quebec, and Chateau-Richer. Names under research for this family are: WHITTEMORE, REILLY (O'REILLY), LAMBERT, TREPANIER, SALVAS, GAUCIN, THEROUX (TEROU-LAFERTE), DANY, LANDRY, DEGUIRE, HARDY, BOUTRET (BOUTREL), LeNORMAND, DAVID (dit PONTIFE), GRANDIN, VOYER, POIRE, ALARD, FORCIER, GIRARD, DAUPHIN, GIGNARD, LaFOREST, GAUDIN, POITEVIN.
