Ruth Ryan's Genealogy Home Page

This project began in memory of my father, John Phillip Ryan (1915-1989). It quickly took on a life of its own, though I did take a long break from it when my two children were younger. Last summer I also began researching the family of my mother, Dorothy Nado Ryan (1919-1999) Please check out my surnames and let me know if we have any connections. Major associated surnames include, on my father's side: Buckley, Donnelly, Hickey, Howe, McDonough, McNally, Ryan, and Shay, though there are many others. All branches of his ancestors ended up in Ogdensburg, NY.

On my mother's side, the most prominant ancestral names are Dee, Flaherty, Kehoe, Kelly, Lowry, and Nado. The Nado connection was from Maine,and earlier generations from Quebec. The rest originate in Nova Scotia, and earlier generations were from Ireland. County Wexford may be the Kehoe origin and County Galway, the Flaherty origin.

I am more than willing to share information! Those of us with working class Irish ancestors with common names need all the help we can get!
