Ryan - Lambeth Family History

Lala was born February 8, 1895 in Paris, Texas to William and Nora Lambeth. Lala was one of seven children born to William and Nora. After Nora's death William Married Arizona and to this union fourteen children were born, making a total of twenty one children in the William Lambeth Family. The family moved to Oklahoma while Lala was quite young. The family settled on a farm in Newalla, Oklahoma. They settled and purchased 360 acres of farm land, located one mile south and one mile east of Stella Store. We still refer to the farm as "The Old Home Place".
She completed elementary and high school in this area. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Langston University in Oklahoma. She taught school in Newalla Public Schools and in Muskogee County Public Schools. Her starting teachers salary was $75.00 per month. All of Lala's life she was very active in the work of the church and the work of the community. She was a loving mother and a devoted housewife.
William Ryan was born January 6, 1886 in Caldwell, Texas to Monroe and Ardell Ryan. He attended grade school in Tunis, Texas near Caldwell. He came to Oklahoma City as a young man. In Texas, William was Ro-Crop Farmer.
His first job in Oklahoma was with the Santa Fe Railroad. He worked in the rail yard. Will was the youngest of four children born to Monroe and Ardell. At heart Will loved farming and did farm the greater part of his life. When World War II started he went into construction work and started building homes. He also did utility work. He then retired back to the farm years later.
William was very active and was a dedicated soul to the church. William stayed continually involved with the community. He was an ordained Deacon and served for over 45 years on the Deacon Board.
William and Lala met in Oklahoma City. They were married November 17, 1924 in Vernon, Texas. The children borne from that union were: Willa Mae, Rudolph, Laverna, Hiram, Leonard, Ruby Dean, William Jr., James, and Norvis.
Laverna, William Jr., and James departed this life as babies. The other six all had the blessed luxury of becoming senior citizens.
William Ryan's death date was June 2, 1972 at Shawnee Medical Center Hospital. William was buried in Friendship Cemetery in Newalla, Oklahoma.
Lala Ryan's death was January 8, 1962 at ACH Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was buried in Friendship Cemetery in Newalla, Oklahoma.
