New Rye Family page for Norfolk Branch

I am researching the Ryes of Norfolk, UK, and also the points at which these Ryes emigrated to Canada. I also have a large amount of information on the Norman de Ryes. Basically, I can prove back to Robert Rye of Smallburgh in the early 1500s, but further evidence will be required to elucidate or refute a possible descendancy from the long-defunct Barony of Rye of Hingham, Norfolk, as claimed by my great grand-uncle genealogist and athelete Walter Rye.

A Norman Ancestry will be very difficult, if not impossible, to prove beyond reasonable doubt, given the vagaries of scraps of information one has to draw from, the fact that one is dependant on manorial records, and parish records fizzle out in the 1400s. The fact that I think the chances of such a descendancy are good, are beside the point. I'm going to enjoy the process wherever it leads...
