Obit in Hopkins County Echo June 21, 1929
Willie H. Coppedge was born in Harrison Co. Tx., Fef. 4, 1863. He moved into the Divide community in 1874 and there spent the rest of his life. He married Labrada A. Clark, Dec. 18, 1884, and to this union were born six children, two of whom have gone on to the Great Beyond. The dead are (1) Eula May died at one year. (2) Ernest L. died in 1907 at the age of 18. Living are (1) Mrs Lela Hamrick, Miller Grove (2) Mrs Ola Morris, Sulphur Springs, (3) Owen Coppedge, living on the old home place in Shirley, (4) Mrs. Stella Armor, Sulphur Springs.
All these together with one brother Tom Coppedge, Hoganville, OK and his dear wife survive him. Having been operated on Feb. 29, 1929 after a long siege of suffering, his condition was so improved that he was about to visit with his children and friends. But alas, the time came and on June 11th, he was taken to Dr. Longs's hospital and yielded to a second operation, but passed away June 18, 1929. Funeral services were held at Methodist Church in Shirley, conducted by Rev. L. A Stidham with burial in the old cemetery there.Obit in Hopkins County Echo June 21, 1929
