In 1851 George & Catherine bought a home in Strasburgh Twp. Consisting of 2 acres, 7 perches, from Abraham Herr & Jonathan Steele. In 1863, they sold this same property to Mary Kurtz for $400 or $500 (cannot tell if the number is a 4 or 5). In 1870 they bought a house & property from Amaziah, (George's son) for $500, in Paradise. His Will is recorded in Lancaster County Will Book "C" Volume "1" Page "446" . Lancaster County Death Affidavit Book "A" Volume "1" Page "474". Lancaster County Inventory Book "W" Volume "1" page "184". Lancaster County Accounts & Reports Book "85" Page "181". Lancaster County Deed Book "U" Volume "19" Page "60". 1850 Federal Census Paradise Twp. Lanc. Co. (Bellemont-Leaman Place), Pa. They were born in Pa. Their Parents were not foreign born.

We found Mary and George in the 1870 Census, page 103, George, age 17, Mary age 16. Lancaster County Will Book "M", Volume "2" page 298. A Family Bible says George,Jr. was born 8-15-1851. The1880 Census, 6-11/12-1880,shows he was 29 years old. Occupation-Barber his wife Mary was 28 years old.
