David Safir of New York, NY
I have recently been in touch with relatives frome the past and discovered a first cousin that I thought was killed in the Holocaust. That started me on this project. I created my family tree from information my family wrote down before most of the older members, except my mother, passed away. I am trying to find out more about my ancestors and possibly enlarge my family tree, adding dates and places. I am trying to find out more about my father's family tree and it's origins and relation to the Ephrussi family, a rather renowned European family we seem to be related to through a Uriel Ephrussi. Uriel's daughter, Hinde Ephrussi married a Safir or Safier and that's how my father's family tree starts. My mother's family tree goes back to the Salomons and the Soffers. All of this was in Hungary and Poland. But my father's side may have gone back to Spain, originally. Included on my father's side are also the Braun's, Goodman's and Moskovitz's. My mother's side begins with an unknown Salomon on one side and a Ludwig Soffer married to a Julie Krausz on the other. I don't have dates and places yet, though my parents, themselves, Johanna Amon and Otto Safir, came from Austria (my father from Vienna and my mother from Graz). |
