Elizabeth was a daughter of James R. Nunn and Holly Edenfield, of Emanuel County, GA. She married John Hooks in 1854, but he died in the War Between the States in 1863; to them were born: Nancy Ann L., James J., Eliza Ann, and John Frederick. She was also the mother of Joseph Berrian Griffin. She later married Andrew Gooding, and they were the parents of Etta and Warnell. Elizabeth is buried in Kimball Methodist Church Cemetery in Anderson City, Worth County, GA.
