Priscilla Roberts (daughter of John Roberts and Rachael D Hickenbaugh) was born September 26, 1863 in Wheeling, West Virginia, and died September 04, 1932 in Elliott, Iowa.She married James Monroe Penry on April 18, 1882 in Red Oak, Iowa, son of Daniel Penry and Sarah Hartwell Drake.

Buried at Frankfort Cemetary, Frankfort, Twp., northeast of Red Oak, Iowa.Came west with parents.This person was said to have very dark hair and complection, possibly Native American.Other spellings of her first name include Pricilla, and Percilla.When Priscilla was coming west with her family one of her older brothers had wondered away from the camp site.When the wagon train began to break camp no one could find her brother.Finally, the wagon master told them that the wagon train had to pull out and gave the family the choice of staying and continuing the search for her brother and taking their chances with the Indians or continuing on with the wagon train.They left with the wagon train.Never knowing what became of Priscilla's brother.This story was passed down through the family, from Blanche Carroll to Laverne Warner and finally to me.I spoke of it with Barbara Kunze, who not only knew the story but said that the family had lost him around Salem, Iowa in Eastern Iowa.
When daughter Mabel was ill, Priscilla called in the local medicine man, RED CROSS.I am currently researching what tribe he was from.
Indians were frequently given meat from Priscilla and James.
In the 1880 census Pricilla was living with her parents in Polk, Sullivan, Missouri.Her nephew Charles Roberts who was born in Missouri was also living with them.
