Message Board Post:
From what I can tell, from 1800 to 1823, except for a tiny corner which was Montgomery in 1800-1805, all of what is today Morgan County was in Floyd County, Kentucky.
As to more information on the William Adams's listed in my message: I was trying to sort them in order to see how they fit into the other Adams families, many of which were linked to "Old John Adams", who is believed to be John Hobbs Adams, Jr. who died in Floyd County, KY in 1815. (John was married first to Nancy Caudill, and married secondly to Lydia “Lettie” Simpson.
Below are the complete texts from Charles Well's "Annals of Floyd County, Kentucky- 1800-1826" that reference William Adams:

There appear to be at possibly five William Adams in the area. One had daughters of marriageable age, Sarah and Mary. There were four marriages listed for a William Adams.
The William Adams who married (and later divorced) Eunice EVANS, is believed to be the son of MATTHEW ADAMS. Matthew was a first cousin to John H Adams Jr.
BTW, Elizabeth the wife of Archilous CRAFT was the daughter of John Hobbs Adams Jr.
Stephen Adams, son of John Hobbs Adams Jr., married Mary "Mollie" WEBB. Their son William Adams, b 1802, is the "Uncle Billy" Adams of Magoffin County, Kentucky. He was married to an Elizabeth Williams in 1826
Spencer Adams, brother of John Hobbs Adams Jr. and wife Nancy Towsin, had a son William, but he is to young to be the father of your Elijah.
Hope there is something in all of this that you did not know and that will help you.
