Gottard DeMuth, son of Christoph DeMuth, born unknown;, d. 11 Dec 1744 in Germantown, PA. He was one of the very first earliest Moravian settlers, arriving with the first group in 1735 in GA and later moving to Pennsylvania to help found Bethlehem. He married in 1728, Regina Leopold(Leupold), daughter of Geroge and Elizabeth (Kern) Leopold. After Gotthard's death in 1744, Regina married 2nd, David Tanneberager in 1748 at Bethlehem, PA. Their chilren were Maria Magdalena, b. 8 May 1734, d. 29 Jun 1734, Herrnhut; Johann, b. 26 Mar 1734, d. 29 Jun 1737, Herrnhut; Johann Christoph, b. 19 Sep 1738, Germantown, PA, d. 7 Sep 1818 in Lancaster Co. PA, buried there, married Elizabeth Haraffel 8 Nov 1767 in Lancaster; Christian Frederick, b. 15 or 26 Dec 1740, Germantown, d. 10 Sep 1781 at Hope, NJ, married 14 Mar 1781 at Bethlehem;, Magdalena Stotz. The first two died in Saxony and one can only guess why they did not accompany their parents to America; the latter two are often recorded as Gottlieb's children, but there are enough discrepancies to convince me that they were indeed Gotthard's children.
