James Rice and Mary his wife, sold land for a token price to Jeremiah
Lambert (son of their daughter Hannah who married Job Lambert). Tazwell

Wolf Creek adjoining his own land.
From the "History of Gallia County" pub. 1882: " The first to settle in
the township (Greenfield) were Daniel Faulkner, James Rice and Andrew
Faulkner... .......The pioneers first settled at the forks of Symmes
creek, Daniel Faulkner built the first cabin, in 1806..... .......Among
the first of the early settlers...Phillip Lambert, and Jerry Lambert."

1839, Aug. 8. Gallipolis Journal: James Rice of Greenfield Twp. Gallia
County, Ohio was 116 years old last June. His health is good, and he
still retains strength sufficient to walk about without assistance. He
has a son living, who is 83 years of age.
