the salts from ashbourne derbyshire to manchester joseph salt married elizabeth smith in ashbourne in 1823 at st oswalds church .joseph had a fish mongers shop in dig st ashbourne lived at marples yard ashbourne .he had four sibblings . the first also called joseph born in 1825 . christened at st oswalds he married elizabeth bailey in 1848 he was also a fishmonger .the second was francis a boy born 1828 died in 1841 just 13 years old lived at dove house green ashbourne the third jane born 1830 married a samuel blood in 1852 at st oswalds church .thr bloods had a very large family the fourth was fanny born in 1834 she still lived in ashbourne at the 1851 census date but i have no knollege of her after 1851 .by the 1871 census most of the salts had moved to manchester and had several shops greengrocers and fishmongers mainley around the miles platting and queens rd and moston area . over 100 yeats later the shops have all gone the family are spread across the city from newton heath woodhousees middleton moston and salford . | |
