I am researching the name Sammons from Sussex County VA and the Darlington District of South Carolina.I am a descendant of Hansel Sammons, Son of James Sammons IV through his daughter Winnifred Sammons and Rebekah Barker.Winnifred married Elija Reynolds in SC and their Daughter Susannah married a Robert Sammons.I think that this Robert was the son of Hansel Sammons and Ann Mannery born in 1805.
My grandfather John Hansel Sammons was the son of Robert and Susannah's son Robert Sammons Junior and Elizabeth Thomas.He, my grandfather and his brother James Wylie Sammons were orphaned and brought to Texas by the maternal uncle John Wesley Thomas along with a large group of relatives.I am particularly interested in the Hansel Sammons connection, especially the Robert Sammons, Senior and Susannah Reynolds Sammons connection.
My paternal grandmother was Sara Ruth Middleton out of John Dickenson Middleton and Georgiana Wise.The Middleltons migrated from Copiah County MS to central Texas sometime after the Civil War.
My maternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Emma Theodisia Fite Cannon migrated from the River Bend area of Gaston County North Carolina around the turn of the Century.
I will appreciate any infomation that you might provide me and I am willing to share what information including pictures that I have and will update my information as I work through the mountain of papers that I found in my mother's effects.
