Great grand father was (Carl Heinrich) Charles Henry SANDHOF(F) born Mecklenburg Germany, son from Christian Jacob Sandhof(f). Christian Sandhoff married to Dorothea Johanna KALIBB / KALIPP Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany. Christian was from Neuendorf / Weitin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz born June 30, 1803, and Dorothea Johanna Sandhoff (Kalibb / Kalipp) was from Weitin, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany - born July 18, 1808. This information comes from the family bible I possess. The family bible is of Lutheran Faith, German language printed Philadelphia, USA 1856. Christian and Johanna brought their son (Carl Heinrich -Christian) Charles Henry Sandhoff to Canada in 1853. This according to "Consent to Emigrate" papers from the Grand Ducal Mecklenburgian Government records. Charles Henry (Carl) Sandhoff was born Germany - Neuendorf, Mecklenburg-Strelitz 25 February 1835.

Joachim Christian Sandhoff (teacher) was father to Christian Jacob Sandhoff. Christian Jacob's mother was Maria Erdmuth RENTNER according to Mecklenburg church records.

The SANDHOFF family moved to Canada prior to Canada becoming a country. The Sandhoff family lived in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada from around 1853 until 1888. The family then moved off to Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Canada. Some family members remaining at Oxbow for the period of 1889 to 1905. At that point the family spilt up with some locating to south southeast Saskatchewan (Lake Park - Lake Alma), others family members moved to Peace River, Alberta, and parts of British Columbia. Some family members lived near Winnipeg, Manitoba for a period of time running a mink ranch. They eventually moved to British Columbia where they continued mink ranching.

It appears that the original surnames of SANDHOF & KALIBB may have had many spelling in Germany. Here in Canada the Sandhoff spelling is found in official documents, such as the Canadian census documents for the period of 1861 – 1901. A Christening record of 1867 for a great uncle was found through the family. The record is in german and indicates the family was living at Carrick, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. A Pastor "Christian Behrens signature appears on the record and the location of the event is listed as Normanby Township, Grey County, Ontario.

My great grandmother’s name was Elizabeth MILLER, and my grandmother's name was Ruth Ester LAMBERT. Very little is known of my great grandmother other than the fact that she is buried in Oxbow, Saskatchewan along with great uncle (Henry Sandhoff). Grandmother Lambert's family originally immigrated to America and lived at various locations in Pennsylvania and New Jersy before her father John Joseph Lambert immigrated to CANADA with his family. Great grandmother Elizabeth Miller was born in Ontario in February 1843, from German and French parents (names unknown).

A school and lake were named after my great grandfather and his family, as they were some of the early settlers in the southeast part of the province. My grandfather and his brothers were the first to settle there and since the land wasn't yet surveyed they were first squatters and later homesteaders. Most of the population in the district were of Icelandic or Norwegian or other descents and they did not pronounce or spell our surname with the "H" included.
