This page is intended to publish the ancestors and descendants of "our" line of the Sanders family.
James Sanders of Pancross Rolls Farm, Newdigate was born in 1783 and died in 1837. I am trying to find a link between my proven ancestors (Sanders of Newdigate - 1780 to 1900 approx) and my believed ancestors (Sanders of Charlwood - 1400 to 1630 approx).

In time you will be able to navigate through the documented generations - both those proved and not yet proved.

If the link below can be proved, it will take our ancestry back to St Arnulf of Metz who died on 16 Aug 641.

If you have any information that will assist this project please forward it to the email address above.

The Charlwood Connection:

Charlwood Place and Sanders Place are one and the same - Sanders often spelt Saunders.

(Each line is a generation)

Count Alexander - came to England 1220

John Alexander (Summoned to Parliament 1296)

Robert

Thomas of Charlwood (married Joan in 1434)

William of Charlwood

Richard

1485 Nicholas of Charlwood

1553 Sir Thomas (High Sherrif fo Sussex and Surrey), married Alice (daughter of Sir Edward Walsingham of Lullington Co Derby)

1566 Edmund Sanders

1615 Thomas Sanders

1623 Edmund Sanders and Elizabeth (married name Bradsaw)

Charlwood was left to Elizabeth by her brother Edmund

Edmund has three entries below his name in my records, Walsingham, Thomas (White), and Margaret.

The Newdigate Connection:

.My great great great grandfather was a James Sanders who was born in 1783 and died on 19 Aug 1837. He married a Mary Dungate who was born in 1789 and died on 1 Aug 1859.

.Their son was a James Sanders who was born in 1811 and died in 1889. He was married to a Martha Roffey on 1 May 1850. Martha was born in 1814 and died on 23 Feb 1875.

This family farmed Pancross Rolls Farm, Newdigate. This was also known as Pancross Farm and now known as The Elms.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.
