 Includes NotesNotes for Michael Eugene Jr. Sandoval:
Mikey went into the Kaiser Hospital on Thursday, Feb. 11, 1993. He was
suffering from pain in the abdomen. They had him there for a couple of days, then took him to Stanford Children's Hospital for tests. They discovered a malignant tumor and brought him back to Kaiser for Chemo-therapy. He progressively got worse and on Friday, Feb.19, 1993;
Aunt Helen got some ministers together and Uncle Larry met them at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara on Saturday, at 2:00 PM. They were meeting for the express purpose of praying for Mikey. Rev. Joseph Trucks, who is the pastor of Camden Assembly of God, was there. Rev. David Womack pastors Twin Palms Assembly of God, was also there. They were joined by Rev. John Martinez, who is the Director of Teen Challenge in the Bay Area, and Uncle Larry and Mikey's Grandfather, Gene Sandoval and some ladies from Camden Assembly. Later that evening, Doctor Young, the Oncologist, took Mikey into surgery to inject some dye to determine how extensive and serious the bleeding was getting. They were to go into surgury at 4:00 PM
and come out of surgery at 9:00 PM. By 5:30 PM, they were already out of surgery and looking for the family members so they could share the outcome of the study. They could not find any bleeding at all, and they said that the tumor had grown as much as it was going to, from that moment on it would not grow anymore, and with the Chemo-therapy it would start to diminish. This, truly, is a momentous day. On the very next day, Sunday, Feb.21, 1993, Mikey's Grandmother, Eurby Sandoval, gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and was beautifully saved.
There was great happiness and joy in the lives that surrounded the family for about six months. One day, Mikey was playing and complained of some pain in his arm. A visit to the doctor confirmed their worst fears,
Cancer was found in his little body.
Mikey lived until October, and life was getting more and more difficult when in the morning service on the 24th, at Camden Assembly of God, a special service was held for Mikey. But not one that was planned by any family member. But, one that was planned by God Himself. That morning, everyone's heart was in one accord in wanting to pray for Mikey, even though they had prayed many times before. In the middle of this beautiful time of prayer and supplication, without knowing that Mikey was on his way to the church, suddenly he was brought forward by his Grandmother and his Aunt. The Holy Spirit had placed it in Eurbies heart to bring him in and the most beautiful goodbye ever given to any Angel that had visited for a while, was given.
Later that night, Mikey asked his Grandmother for a drink, and his Grandfather said that there was nothing to drink. Mikey told him that there was some orange juice on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator and sure enough, there was some orange juice on the bottom shelf. Grandpa brought him the orange juice and found Mikey with his arms raised toward heaven, as if he wanted someone to lift him up. Both his Granparents thought that he wanted into bed with them, but he was looking beyond them, to someone higher.
At about 5 a.m., Grandma woke to find that someone higher had extended His arms to lift Mikey out of all the pain, strife and discomfort.
Everyone that ever came in contact with this little Angel always said that he had this tremendous impact on their lives. I am one of those.
