2. THOMAS² MCCRACKEN (UNKNOWN¹)¹ was born 1704-1708. He married MARGARET.

Notes for THOMAS MCCRACKEN:
      The McCRACKEN FAMILY of Bradford Co., Pa., derive their origin from what are believed to have been one of two brothers, Thomas and Robert, who were b. In Northern Ireland, the former between 1704 and 1708 and the later abt. 1709. Both d. In Lower Mount Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., Pa. In 1772 Thomas McCracken, Robert McCracken, Robert McCracken Jr., Hugh McCracken and Samuel McCracken were all taxpayers in Lower Mount Bethel Twp.

      THOMAS McCRACKEN (No. 1) eldest of the two emigrant brothers, was b. In Northern Ireland 1704-08, and died in Lower Mt. Bethel Twp., Northampton Co., Pa., between Aug. 12, 1788, and Aug 28, 1792. His wife, Margaret was still living in 1801, and was the mother, certainly, of Hugh and Samuel and probably of all the children. Thomas was a farmer, first recorded in Bucks county, which then included Northampton, on Feb. 1, 1746, and in Lower Mt. Bethel as early as June 8, 1746 when he was already an old settler. In 1758 he was a Second Lieutenant in the Militia, but was too old to serve in the Revolutionary War. Thomas McCracken was a Federal taxpayer in Lower Mt. Bethel Twp. In 1772, and he is attested in Lower Mt. Bethel in 1775, 1785, 1786, 1788, and appears there in the 1790 census with 2 males over 16 and 3 females.

Evelyn McGinn states' "We know that Robert had three daughters, because there was a will, to which we plan to get the abstract of. There were no mention of sons. We are looking for information about him, because we think he may be the father of James of Oxford.
