Notes for JOZEF PITULA: Joseph served in World War I. Because he was a foreigner he was not allowed to carry weapons. He dug the graves for the soldiers who died in battle. Joseph was exposed to gas while serving in WWI and returned home to Indiana. He later died from the effects of the gas.
