I am researching my wife's family. The majority of them were of the founding families of Virginia & West Virginia. The most prevelant names are:
Bandy/Beavers/Brooks/Christian/Lowe/Shrader/Skaggs.
It appears most of the Ancesstors resided in Tazewell Co, VA./W.VA..
Her Grandmother, Zela Hilbert/Helbert, was thought to be of pure Indian heratige. We are anxious to learn more about her.
Also, her grandfather, Tom Crockett Lowe, was a member of the NEZ PERGE/PEARCE indian tribe and was a member of the "Improved Order Of Red Men". Information is scarce for them, but we are making progress. Seems to be plenty of information for the Beavers, Bandys, Christians and Shraders. 3 generations of her Beavers line resided on the top of a mountain in Bandy WVA/VA. In fact, their homeland was suposedly given to them when Columbus Beavers and Nannie Bandy married,by the Bandys.
Check out Diana's Ancestor report and pass along any fills or corrections you may have.
I am also researching my side of the family, Sandera/Robinson/Tirolli/Muth. The Sandera's I know of came to this country around the turn of the century from somewhere in Northern Italy. I have heard they didn't come alone. I have learned that most lived in Northern Ohio, and scattered after that. It is thought many worked in the mines. As you can tell from my report I know little of my own heritage. Seems my grandfather was working in the mines in W.VA. at the time of his death. Any information or clues beyond there would be appreciated.
Look around and let me know if you find any of your family roots here. We are always eager to meet any kin that may come along. So far we have been contacted by many who turned out to be cousins from one line or another. A few long lost ones have come about as well.
I look forward to any discussion, note comparing, corrections or information, and also offer any help to anyone wanting it. Most of my sources are listed, many of which are other family files found on FTM CD's. It may take some time to get back to you but I will as soon as I can. Write soon!!!
Happy Hunting.
