Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Hello everyone! My genealogical journey began in Mt. Lookout, WV where I began researching STULL and SHAWVER. From there, I branched out further into Nicholas Co. to the Canvas area to research BRYANT and RADER. Many people were very helpful and I ended up with quite a bit.
At this point, I am researching my maternal line. This takes me into the heart of the coal mining territories of West Virginia in Boone County. THURMOND and CRADDOCK to start with, then my research of the Thurmond's took me to the Georgia/Tennesee border counties of Fannin Co., GA and Polk Co., TN. Here I began research on GALLOWAY and LOCK. My research of THURMOND, SISSON and PELFREY took me to Gilmer Co., GA. Here I learned that our THURMOND was originally spelled THURMAN.

Here is where I hit a brick wall and am hoping to add more soon.
