WELCOME to the Sassienie Worldwide family web site.
THERE are several different versions of the family surname in this family tree. The name Sasine, Sasiene, Sasienie, sass, Sassiene, Sassieni, & Sassienie are variants of the surname Sasieni and Salomon within our family group. The tree includes eleven generations of the Salomon/Sasieni family originating from Holland. Click on the SASSIENIE WORLDWIDE FAMILY TREE title in the Gedcom trees section to gain access to the family tree.
THE first family member we have on record was Jacob Salomon and he was married to Matje Mozes born in the year 1750 Amsterdam Holland. Each heredity Sassienie, whatever their surname has a direct ancestry to Jacob Salomon and Matje Mozes. We have no birth date for Jacob, but we do know he died in Amsterdam Holland on the 4th January 1800. Jacob had a son born in the year 1796 Amsterdam Holland . His name was Woolf Jacob Sasieni, the first Sasieni we have on record. After Woolf the family tree has four branches.
MOST European Countries did not begin to keep official public records and registrations until the early part of the nineteenth century and European Jews by and large did not use surnames until it became compulsory under Napoleonic Law after 1811. It is as a rule extraordinarily difficult to discover from whence early ancestors individually originated as some common European Jewish given names are shared by all European Jews and some non-Jews.It is for these reasons that most amateur family researchers can only ascertain Jewish foundation ancestral records with European origins equal to about ten generations
IF you know of any family members that are not mentioned in the family tree, please would you Email to me their details. Date of births, marriages (if applicable), deaths (if applicable), interesting facts, documents, also photos of family members sent by Email with details, I can publish them on this site.
THE names are irrelvant, providing they are decendants of a Sasieni or their spouses.
I would welcome your comments regarding this site and please keep me informed of any new arrivals to the Family that can be included into the family tree as a legacy for all our future generations.
THE Sassienie Worldwide Family Tree is a collection of genealogical information taken from Pedigree Charts, Family Records, Family Members, Public Record Offices, Passenger Lists, Military Records, Censuses, Social Security Indexes, Public Libraries and the Internet. Although some of the data was obtained from official sources, most of the information in the Sassienie World Wide Family Tree has been contributed and not verified against any official records. Therefore it is the responsibility of those who use this website and all that is contained within this family tree to verify its accuracy.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: I would not have been able to complete this family tree without the contributions of Ronald Wallace & Sally Anne Sassienie who has published their findings and family tree in Familytree maker.com & the World Family Tree for the benefit of family members, and I am indebted to Maurice Hoffman & Rosemary Davis who have freely given their co-operation, support, and with dedicating almost 20 years of research towards the Sasieni ancestry and their decendants has presented their entire information and collected data to this family tree. MY thanks and appreciation to Garry Steel for his discovery of Sasieni family trees on the Internet, which was my inspiration to further the research for our family ancestry and for his assistance with the Family Tree files. I give thanks and gratitude to Derek Dightmaker for his assistance with the necessary information required that has enabled the Dightmaker`s and their descendants to be included in this family tree. I would also like to record my appreciation to Professor Peter Sasieni, Neil Weinstein, Dr Nigel Fidlan and other family members who have contributed towards this Family tree.

  • The Custom of Naming Children, Sasieni Tradition (18 KB)
Copyright © Protected - All rights Reserved. For centuries naming children after family members has been a common practice. If a name cuts across several generations, including cousins, it usually indicates a family connection. Long before children's names were chosen for their beauty or popularity, parents had other criteria for selecting names. Names were chosen not for their originality but often to honour relatives, either dead or living. Consequently the same names tended to be repeated through successive generations. (Article)

The family were all born in London England and it was likely that they moved to 10 Rectors Way, Weston Super Mare in the South West of England believing that the area would be a safe haven from the daily bombing raids affecting London. They sold all of whatever assets they had in hope of starting a new life. When they entered America they wrote letters back to their relatives about their life here. Soon their relatives came to America to join them. They came because America was portrayed to be the land of opportunity; others came because they were encouraged by exaggerated stories of abundant job opportunities. (Article & original documents)

  • The Huguenots & the Jews - Entwined in History (51 KB)
Throughout the centuries our Jewish ancestors has inadvertently crossed paths with another specific cultural and religious group, the Huguenots. The Huguenots were French Protestants who were members of the Reformed Church, which was established in 1550. Our Jewish ancestors and the Huguenots would have lived and worked in the same neighbourhoods, although probably within their different communities. But there is much speculation that during the last few hundred years many Jews because of religious persecution in Spain, Portugal and France did convert to Christianity or became Christians and remained Jews behind the scenes and that some Jews migrated to America during the mid seventeenth century in the guise as Huguenots rather than Jews. These intriguing and interesting articles describe how the historic pathways of our Jewish ancestors and the Huguenots have become intertwined. The similarities between the two groups are astounding and any Sasieni family member would have great difficulties in publishing an accurate account of family history lifestyles without the word Huguenot popping up in there somewhere.
