Saunders/Needham/Colson/Ralph/Godfrey of North Carolina Page

The Saunders (Sanders) family came to NC from Nansemond County, VA about 1715. They were members of the Society of Friends or Quakers. They lived mostly in Perquimans County, NC, but many also lived in Pasquotank County, NC.
The Needhams came to NC about 1735 from Elizabeth City County, VA. Most of them lived in the small town of Old Trap in Camden County, NC. Some lived in South Mills, NC.

The Colsons(Coleson)were concentrated in a township called New Hope in Perquimans County, NC. A very low profile family.

The Ralphs (Relph, Relfe, Relf) lived mainly in Pasquotank County, NC. Probably decendant of Thomas Relfe of the Enfield Plantation who came to NC about 1663 and was granted 750 acres of land for the passage of 15 people. The Enfield Farm was a central rallying point of the famous Culpepper rebellion, staged by John Culpepper.

The Godfreys resided mostly in New Hope in Perquimans County, NC.
The Godfreys played a key role in the early history of NC. The home of Francis Godfrey, the first Godfrey to settle in NC, and the Fourth Family to Settle in Perquimans County, NC, was a center stage of the NC General Assembly in the late 1600's.
