Notes for William George Fairfax:
Captain of the Venerable, a 74-gun ship, in the Battle of Camperdown, 11 Oct 1797.
He was also captain of the Repulse, and 50-gun ship attached to the Northern Fleet commanded by the Earl of Northesk.
Lived in Northumberland Street, at or near number 45 (Edinburgh?). Later moved to Charlotte Street.
William's funeral ferry from Edinburgh to Burntisland was delayed by a storm, and was held the following day.
