Captain James Hayter Jackson
James, born 24th Nov 1800 is reputed to be one of the first 50 settlers in New Zealand, arriving in the early 1820's. He spent his early years on Kapiti Island, living with the famous Maori Chief, Te Rauparaha, prior to setting up his own whaling station in Jackson's Bay, Tory Channel, Marlborough, New Zealand
