I am researching my maternal grandfather's family. They came from a village in Kent, England called Hadlow, near Tunbridge Wells. So far I have got back to 1774 but am getting a bit stuck now.Other names in this family are Singyard, Coomber, Lowman, all from the same area. My grandfather was in the North Staffs Regiment in World War 1 and served in France until he was gassed with mustard gas. Unfortunately I don't know where in France he was stationed. If anyone knows any information about this regiment in WW1 I'd be very grateful. I am also researching my husband's family tree - the name is Scales and they are from the East End of London, England in a place called Bermondsey and Rotherhithe. I would be willing to share any information that I already have on either of these families if anyone is interested.
