In 1910 Warsaw, Hancock Co., ILL. census at age of 65 yrs. his occupation was delivery for Retail Grocery.

Obituary:
Lewis Scarlett son of Mr and Mrs Henry Scarlett was born in Christian Co., Kentucky, August 25, 1846 and departed this life, Apr. 13, 1935 at the home of his son, James A. Scarlett, Christopher, Illinois, age 88 years, 7 months and 19 days.
He was united in marriage to Julia Ann Blankenship in 1868. To this union were born eleven children six of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death Feb 15, 1919, also three daughters and two sons.
For sixty years he made his home near Peakesville, Clark Co., Missouri, where in 1886 he professed faith in Jesus Christ and united with the Athens M.E. church.
For the past nine years he has made his home with his son and wife Mr and Mrs Scarlett of Christopher.
In his many personal contacts he numbered his friends by all who knew him. Especially was she (sic) dearly beloved by all the children of his neighborhood, for he loved them and sought their companionship. He was of a gentle disposition, a kind and patient and loving father. He leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter, Mrs Cora Kay of Davenport, Iowa, fives sons, Will Scarlett of Liverty, IL., James A., Des Moines, IA., Thomas of Norton, KS., Arthur B., of Omaha, Neb., and John A. Scarlett of Christopher, IL. Also a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of friends and acquaintances.
After the funeral at Christopher, IL., Monday, April 15, the body was brought to the Peakesville cemetery for burial.
Among those in attendance were Mr and Mrs John A. Scarlett, of Christopher, IL.; Mr and Mrs A. G. Kimball and Mr and Mrs C.C. Dillon of Benton, IL.; Rev. and Mrs Byron Ingold of Canton; Arthur B. Scarlett of Des Moines. The Scarletts all formerly resided here.
