William became the father of William B. Gamblin Bristol Parrish, Prince George Co., VA, July 24, 1727. Tradition says that the Gamblins (Gamblings) sailed for America from England in1634. They came with an in-law who received a land grant from the King.
The first Gamblin family that we have record of in this country are William and Mary Givan Gamblin. We know of one son, William B. Gamblin.
It is believed, through tradition, that the Gamblin family were direct descendants of Robert Bruce, King of Scotland. Stories were told of the fine silver, china, and crystal that they brought to America. These were destroyed by fire long before they left North Carolina. The family is believed to have come from Edinburgh
