The Scallan name is an old Irish surname and hails from County Wexford, Ireland. The first and oldest reference to a Scallan in America is dated from 1776, and is a Baptismal Certificate for the daughter of Nicholas Scallan and Marie Josephe Oubre. This Nicholas, was the primary ancestor for most of the Scallans in Louisiana (which has the largest concentrations of the name in America). My research into the Scallan and related family history is an on-going life project. I am willing to share whatever information I may have to assist you in your search. Related families include, but are not limited to; Rabalais; Ducote; Normand; Gremillion; Oubre; Plauche; Marionneau; and Mayeux. |
