The Scantlen Family

I am researching the Marque (Marc,Mark) Scantlen family from Quebec Canada as recorded in the 1881 Canadian Census. Marque and his children are recorded to be of French background, but many of the surnames are of Irish descent. I haven't figured that one out yet, but I am working on it.

The Scantlen surmames are varied. Some of them include Scantland, Scanland, Scantlon, Scantlan and others)

Any information you may have would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
