I am researching two immigrant families, the Schluckebiers and the Arnegards from Michigan and North Dakota. I am descended from the Schluckebier brother who settled in Saginaw and whose son, George, changed the family name to Schlukbier. My other family were Norwegian whose actual name was Olson and had been assigned the name Arnegard because they worked on the Arnegard farm in Norway. The Schluckebiers are Bavarian Germans and took part in the 1848 Rebellion in Germany and were forced to flee from near Saltzberg, Austria. The Arnegards were farmers who became very successful in North Dakota. |
