* Family History of the Schuylers and Related Families*

Updated April 30, 2007

SCHUYLER, NEUPERT, BERLINER, HAMILTON, GOLDSTEIN, SNYDER
Welcome!
I am currently researching my Schuyler family ties along with their related families and my wife’s family.

I am glad to share whatever information I have and would love to hear from anyone with links to these families. I have tried to be as accurate as possible in my research but I guarantee there are mistakes, oversights and outright lies contained herein. Don’t take anything as a fact. Use what you find as a guide to further exploration to the original sources. Please let me now if you find any giant glaring mistakes or even small conflicts with your
sources.

I’ll be adding and updating as I can so please stop back!

Here are the main areas I am working with-- the links to the trees and reports will show up at the bottom but here’s an overview.

SCHUYLER and related families:
The Dutch Schuylers of New York and their descendants from 1600 to today.
I spent several years collecting data on these families that are directly related to mine and then found the wonderful 2 volume genealogy “Schuyler Genealogy” Volumes 1 and 2 by Florence A. Christoph, C.G.
I encourage anyone seriously looking into either the Dutch or German Schuylers to get these volumes from the
Friends of the Schuyler Mansion at
32 Catherine St. Albany, NY 12202 PH: (518) 434-0834.
I had collected most all of my related information from many long hours at the library and various archives before I bought the volumes. However, it was an invaluable aid to me in having another source to verify much of the information that I gathered. It is a wonderful read and worth the money.

NEUPERT: This my paternal grandmother’s side who married into the Schuylers and I have very few entries. I would like to hear from other Neupert relatives.

HAMILTON and related families:
This is not Alexander Hamilton the first secretary of the treasury, although he does show up as a husband in the Schuyler family. This Hamilton family starts with Francis HAMILTON who was born about 1785. He came from Scotland and settled in Rhode Island in the early days of the United States. Later he settled in Madison County, New York state. Hamilton married into the Berliner family.

BERLINER and related families:
This is a tough one! I am looking for the family history of Max BERLINER who was born in 1893 in Poland.
Max Berliner died in the Morro Castle ship disaster off Asbury Park, NJ. Sept 8, 1934.
When Max and his brother Harry Manual entered Ellis Island the immigration worker may or may not have changed their names to BERLINER. Family history says that the name change at Ellis Island is true, but other sources have told me that it was very uncommon for this to happen. They were born in an area of Poland that is now Russia. Max entered the US through Ellis Island probably not before 1905 and likely prior to 1911. A younger brother Harry Manual probably accompanied him. Max and Harry also had a sister Tillie. There is very limited information on them so I would be very interested in any leads on this.

GOLDSTEIN and related families:
Samuel Goldstein who was born in Russia in the late 1800’s and emigrated to the USA and settled in New York.
He married Rachel (lastname ?) and they had ten children. Goldstein married into the Berliner/Hamiltons.

SNYDER-SNIDER and related families:
Looking for information on the Minnie Snider who married Harry Snyder in the late 1800’s . They were of two different families though their last names were similar. Their daughter was Lulu Snyder born 1891 in Muncie, IN
and died 1979 in Winchester, MA. Lulu Snyder was married to Clarence Herbert Hamilton born:1886 and died: 1986

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
