Notes for Andrew W Myers: Andrew W. Myers was born in Stark County, OH, 1833, son of Jacob R. Myers and Lydia Utz. They had removed to Ohio in 1832 from York County, PA. Birth records in Stark County are not preserved prior to 1860. They were farmers and millers, even distillers. The family moved to Elkhart County, IN in 1852 or 53. Andrew married Hellen Oliver in 1856, by the 1860 census they were living in Middlebury with a family fortune of $75.00. In 1870 they lived in Cleveland Twp, Elkhart County, and in 1880 lived in Mendon , MI where he was listed as a stockdealer. He worked in the following mills in Indiana and Michigan: Middlebury, upper and lower mills, Bonneville Mill, Allegan Mill, Mendon Mill, Flowerfield Mill and Constantine Mill. On the day his daughter Ida was born in 1864, her grandmother Jane Hope Oliver Rogers found a clipping in the paper that twin sons he had fathered were born in another town fifteen miles away. She tucked the clipping in her apron pocket, where it was later found by Ida's mother. By 1900 they had separated (no divorce record found) and he was living alone in Middlebury, IN. He was a heavy drinker, who would reform, go to church, then repeat the process. He lived with and/or married a Mrs. Merkin, but when she died, her daughter put Andrew in the County Home in 1913. Since this was considered a disgrace, his daughter, Ida Mather took him to Weatherford, OK and then to Howard, KA where he died at the age of eighty four.
