Notes for Daniel Barber: Daniel and Naomi Barber were first cousins who married in Windsor, CT, 1741. They settled in Harwinton, CT about 1746, near C.S. Barber's place and removed, about 1750 to or near Amenia, NY. They returned from NY to CT and in 1770 were living in Harwinton, but as to where the closing years of their lives were spent is an unsolved problem. Daniel and Naomi Barber lived in Dutchess County NY for a period of time, where Daniel's name appears on the account book of Joseph Mabbett, indicating he purchased powder and a shovel, p. 177 Ref: National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Kenneth Scott, F.A.S.G. By 1757 Daniel and Naomi were living in Dutchess County, NY where Martha, Mary, Elizabeth, Ruth, Joolumis (probably Joel Loomis) , and Joseph were baptized . ., Amenia, Dutchess County NY was formed 7 March 1788. It lies on the east border of the county. A wide valley separates the Taghkanick Mts. and the Fishkill Range, highest summits are 300 to 500 ft. above the valleys.
