 Includes NotesNotes for John Tuthill:
John Tuthill was born 16 July 1635 . He married Deliverance King in 1657. John and Deliverance had 4 sons and 5 daughters.
John married second Sarah, probable widow of Thomas Young and daughter of John Frost. John was a large landowner at Southold. The dates of the births of his children are recorded in his Bible, and in Liber E., MSS, Southold Town Records.

A strong friendship existed between Richard Browne, Samuel Kinge, and their brother-in-law, John Tuthill, husband of Deliverance Kinge. All three were men of sterling integrity. John Tuthill, "who for conscience sake would not take an oath," is described "as a man of great enterprise, energy and will, controlled and guided by strong common sense, honesty of purpose, and religious principle. No man probably, possessed to so great an extent the confidence of the community. Richard Browne in dying entrusted his family and estate solely in the care of John Tuthill."
