In 1801, Onondaga County His Excellency the Commander-in-chief, on the recommendation of Brigadier General Benjamin Ledyard, having thought it proper to form the militia of the county of Onondaga into a brigade; therefore, Resolved that Elihu Lewis be and he is hereby appointed brigadier general thereof. His Excellency the commander-in-chief, on the recommendation of Brigadier General Benjamin Ledyard, having thought it proper to form four regiments in said county of Onondaga, Resolved that the following officers be and they are hereby appointed for said regiments, to wit: For the fourth regiment- Moses Hopkins, lieutenant colonel, commandant; Sixth company-- Alexander Leach, captain; Ebenezer Carley, lieutenant; James Olds, ensign - do in Cincinnatus (p. 541). Will Abstract: I, Alexander Leach, being weak in body but of sound mind do appoint my beloved wife Lovina Leach, Silas Leach, and Silas Salisbury my executors of my last will. I give my wife Lovina Leach 1/3 part of all real estate together with bedding and other household articles as long as she remains my widow. I give to my sons Silas and William the other 2/3 of my real estate except 10 acres I give to my son Alexander Leach, Jnr. where he now lives. I also give Silas and William all personal estate. I give my son Benjamin $50.00 when he becomes of lawful age. I give my son Jonathan $50.00 when lawful age. I give my son Mason $50.00 when lawful age. I give my son Shepherd $50.00 when lawful age. I give my daughter Sally $50.00 when lawful age. I give my dau Levine $50.00 when lawful age. I give my dau Hannah $50.00 when lawful age. I give my dau Anna $50.00 when lawful age. LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ALEXANDER LEACH
RECORD OF THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ALEXANDER LEACH DECEASED SEPTEMBER 19, 1827. Know all men by these presents that I, Alexander Leach being weak in body but of sound mind and sane memory do constitute and appoint my beloved wife Lovina Leach and Silas Leach and Silas Salisbury my executors to execute this my last will and testament and first I give to my beloved wife Lovina one third of all my real estate always and at all times to use and occupy at her pleasure the west room of my new dwelling house and ___________ and bedding with such other articles of household furniture as will at all times render her comfortable so long as she shall live and remain my widow. Secondly I give to my sons Silas and William the other two thirds of my real estate except ten acres of land which I give and bequeath to my son Alexander Leach Junr where he now lives. I also give to Silas and William all my present estate except such articles as I have bequeathed to my wife I also give and bequeath to my son Benjamin fifty dollars to be paid to him by Silas and William out of my property when he shall become of lawful age also I give and bequeath to my son Jonathan fifty dollars to be paid to him by Silas and William out of my property when he shall become of lawful age also I give and bequeath to my son Mason fifty dollars to be paid to him by Silas and William out of my property when he shall become of lawful age I also give and bequeath to my son Shepherd fifty dollars to be paid to him by Silas and William out of my property when he shall become of lawful age also I give and bequeath to my daughter Sally fifty dollars to be paid to her by Silas and William out of my property when called for I also give and bequeath to my daughter Levine fifty dollars to be paid to her by Silas and William out of my property when she shall become eighteen years of age if called for also I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah fifty dollars to be paid to her by Silas and William out of my property when she shall become eighteen years of age if called for I also give and bequeath to my daughter Anna fifty dollars to be paid by Silas and William out of my property when she shall become eighteen years of age if called for All the above payments to be paid by Silas and William to Benjamin, Jonathan, Mason and Shepherd to be paid in neat stock and all the above payments to be paid to Sally, Levine, Hannah and Anna to be paid in beds, bedding and household furniture. It is also my will that my children shall each of them except Benjamin live with Silas and William and be subject to them and render them all reasonable service until they shall arrive at the ages above named and in case of their proving refractory and leaving them before they arrive at the age named that they shall in that case forfeit their claim & portion hereby bequeathed to them it is also my will that Silas and William shall school Hannah and Anna and Jonathan and Mason and Shepherd until they shall be able to do business as ______________sons and daughters ought to do. Record of the probate of the foregoing will. Be it remembered that on the nineteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven personally appeared before me Jabez B. Phelps Surrogate of the County of Cortland aforesaid James Jones one of the subscribing witnesses to the will of Alexander Leach late of the town of Harrison in the said County __________ who being duly sworn declared that he did see the said Alexander Leach deceased seal and execute this instrument hereunto annexed and impressed with the seal of Office of the said Surrogate which said instrument purported to be the last will and testament of the said Alexander Leach deceased bearing the date the fifteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six that he heard him the said Alexander Leach publish and declare the same as and to his last will and testament and at the time thereof he the said Alexander Leach was of sound disposing mind and memory to the best knowledge and belief of him the said James Jones and that he together with Daniel Sherwood and Silas Salisbury the other witnesses to the said will did severally subscribe their names thereunto as witnesses in the presence of the testator In testimony whereof the said Surrogate hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his Seal of Office Done at Preble this nineteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven. Record of the codicil to the foregoing will Whereas I Alexander Leach did in my last will and testament executed on the fifteenth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lovina Leach one third part of my real estate all of her natural life as so long as she shall remain my widow now know all men by these presents that it is my will and intention that after her natural life is terminated in death or when she shall marry another man then the aforesaid one third part of my real estate is to be the sole property of my sons Silas Leach and William Leach. Hannah, Shepard, William, Benjamin, Jonathan, Mason, Sally, Lovina and Anna Leach who was born in 1815 in Cortland Co., NY married Peter Rockwell in 1833, died 18 April 1904 in Broome Co. NY. DEATH-Tombstone in Texas Valley (Marathon) Cemetery states b. 1765 d.August 15, 1827. "Here lies a man of Jenerous mind Though in this grave he's now confined Beneath the cold and silent clod Firm was the faith he plaised in God A Grandaughter at his side." Cortland Co. On 16 Oct 1809 Alexander Leach of Cincinnatus buys from James and Sally Jones (his sister) of Cincinnatus a part of lot #65 in Cincinnatus north of the road by the Leach old farm two and 3/4 acres and 32 rods for $59.13. NY 9 Sept 1831 Silas Leach paid $300.00 for William and his wife Sally Leach to quit claim title and interest on what was bequeathed to William by his father Alexander Leach, late of Harrison, now Marathon, deceased, lot # 65 in Marathon which was proven in Cortland Co. on 19 September 1827. Witnessed by James Jones.

Sally Mariah d. 12 Mar1841 bought out the rest of his sibs and stayed on the family farm, was Cortland Co. commissioner of deeds in 1837, had children Lydia and Martin, is buried in family plot at Texas Valley. In 1830 census, he had 1 male under 5, 1 5-10, 1 10-15, 1 15-20 and 1 male 20-30, just 1 female 20-30 . Had a daughter Lydia who died at age 3 mo., buried beside her grandfather Alexander Leach in Texas Valley, NY
3) Sally b. 1804, m. Philander Underwood, children James F. and John, quitclaimed land from father in 1828. Sometimes it looks like she was married to James Jones too, just like her aunt Sarah Leach who married James Jones in Pelham and came to Cortland Co. with her brother Alexander Leach Sr. She was over 18 when her father died in 1827 as he said "when called for" instead of "when she reaches the age of 18 if called for" She d. 1872.
4) William b. 1806, m. Sally A., in 1830 NY census, 1 male 20-30, 1 female under 5, 1 10-15, 1 15-20, 2 20-30. went to WI with mother and sibs, in WI census 1850 farmer, age 44, wife Sally age 42, Mitsy 21, Lydia 17, Lavina 16, Mahala 13, Henry 10, Julia 8, Jane 5, all b. NY. In 1855 had 2 males, 6 females in household
5) Benjamin b. bef. 1810, m. was age 20-30 in 1830 census, living in German, Chenango County, with one female age 15-20.
6) Hannah b. 1810, did not marry, went west with family, lived with brothers, in WI census 1850, 1855,1860
7) Lavina b. 1811 m. maybe a Scott before Josiah Hopkins d. 1892, age 81 yrs in Marathon, stayed in Cortland Co., buried there
8) Jonathan b. 1814 m. Clarissa, in NY census in 1840, went to Wi by 1842, child born there that year, in census there in 1850, age 36 wife Clarissa 35, in 1855 had 2 males, 4 females in household, in 1860, age 46, wife Clarissa age 45, daughter Alice 23, Nellie 18, Silvia 12, Bertha 10, had

10) Mason (called Moses in will abstract) b. 1818 m.
