Elizabeth Nixon (b. Abt. 1776, d. 15 January 1840)
Elizabeth Nixon was born Abt. 1776 in Scotland, and died 15 January 1840 in Roxburghshire, Scotland. She married John Oliver, son of William Oliver and Jean Nichol.
Notes for Elizabeth Nixon: from "The Surnames of Scotland": Nixon. The "son of Nicholas," from the diminutive form "Nick." "The name was common on both sides of the border, perhaps most so in Bewcastle in Cumberland; but as early as 1376 we find a William Nycson occupying lands in the district of Ermyldoune in Liddisdale" (Liddisdale, p. 181). William Nykson was one of the borowis" for the earl of Douglas's bounds of the West March in 1398 (Bain, IV, 512). There are 39 forms of the name given by Armstrong, from Nekson to Nyxsons.
