"At 8:30 the guests who had been invited to witness the marriage ceremony had arrived and the bride and groom, appropriately dressed came into the parlor and took their places in the bay window, where the minister pronounced the words which joined them together for life. After the ceremony and the congratulations of the relatives and friends, an elegant repast, which had been prepared under the direction of Mrs. L. Winslow, 87, a native of Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Jan. 16, in Riverside, Calif., after an illness of several months. Funeral rites and burial took place in Riverside. Mr. Winslow had resided in Riverside since 1925. He was father of Myron C. Winslow, senior administrative assistance of the UCR Citrus Experiment Station, with whom he lived in Riverside. Mr. Winslow was born in Punxsutawney. He began a career as a railroad man in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. He became the Santa Fe's first agent at Glendale, Ariz., when the line to Phoenix was first extended south from Ashfork. Later he served as station agent at Wickensburg, Ariz., on the same line. When Indian lands in Oregon were opened in 1904, Mr. Winslow moved to Okmulaee, the former Creek Nation capital, and until 1925 engaged in real estate activities, oil leasing and oil exploration and drilling. Mr. Winslow was a Mason and a Shriner and only recently was honored for 50 years of membership in the Masonic lodge."
