Currently I am trying to prove and place, my great, great grandfather, "Jim" Wilson in the Lowndes County (Georgia) family of Orizba (Risby) Wilson. One of Orizba's sons was named James Wilson and his date of birth corresponds to my "Jim" Wilson's birth.

I have as yet been unable to confirm much information concerning "Jim" Wilson, and his early years. There are few records in the Lowndes County (Georgia) area as there have had several courthouse fires in the past which destroyed most records for this period. At the present time I am trying to gather information using census, Civil War, and internet sources. There are still many unanswered questions -

First name in question: He was called "Jim" therefore, his name could have been James. However, his grandson, Caprus Johnson Wilson, wrote (recorded) his name as either James Samuel or Samuel James Wilson.

After serving in the Civil War and the death of his first wife, he and his three children moved down into northern Florida (between 1865-1870).

He then remarried a Poppell girl from Jefferson County and moved into Western Florida. He and his new wife are believed to have settled on an island off the coast of Apalachicola where they began a new Wilson line.

Notes for Addie Wilson:
Pershing Caprus Wilson stated that Addie's Lee descendants still reside in Taylor County, Florida. It is also believed that some of them married into the Whiddon family.
