John was born in Fairbanks as part of the "Alaska Clan" now living in Washington and Oregon. Living in Edmonds, WA, John and Sonyong Yim have been married for over 15 years and daughter Rachel's 12th birthday was in Jan. of 2005.
John's dad, Leo Edward and wife, Patricia "Barbara" Schmitt Schlotfeldt, had moved the family to Enumclaw, WA. where Leo passed away in '86. John's Mom was born in Montana.
