The Schwankhaus / LeForge Genealogy Home Page

Updated September 6, 2000

The four surnames that I am researching right now are Schwankhaus, Wernsing, Leforge, and Dugan. My current family tree includes over 2000 names dating to 1650.The Schwankhaus Family originates in Sögeln, Germany. The name is mentioned in legal documents as early as 1295. Variations in spelling include Swankhaus, Swankhouse, Swankhuisen, and Zwankhuizen. My tree begins with Lubbert Schwankhaus born about 1650.The LeForge name has been researched by many people. My family left France for New Jersey in the early 1600's. Then left N.J. down the Ohio River to Kentucky and the west in the early mid 1700's. Desendants are spread all over the United States. Variations of spelling include Leforgee and Leforgy. The Dugan Family has been researched by many people. Most of my information on Dugans came from Dugan Memorials and Genealogies, compiled and edited by Mrs. Richard A. Donaldson, IV.I do not have much information on the Wernsing Family yet. I would like to hear from anyone having information on Wernsings. Please click "Family History, Garden Ponds, and Education" in the yellow block to visit my other home pages. You can access some interesting stories about family members past and present.I would appreciate any information and am willing to share my findings.
