Find Family

A little bit about our family tree. I am researching relatives who came from all over the world and lived all over the country. One major area where many in our tree come from is in the outskirts of Buffalo. The Schattner (Buffalo and West Seneca), Minnick (Eden), Klein (Boston), Miller (Colden), Thurber (Springville), Weeden and Pettit(Ashford) families all are in or near the Erie County area of NY. There is a large amount of Thurber information. They lived in the Buffalo, NY area and came from Berkshire County, Mass. In the midwest, I am researching Smarsty and Hertrampf (Iowa & Moline, IL), Dunbar, Verbeck, Knudde (Henry County, IL), and Coffey (Wyandotte County, KS.

There are two families that I currently have special interest in. Jamima Wolf married Hiram Dunbar in Knox County, OH in 1828. Her father was either Peter or George Wolf. Her grandfather was Peter Wolf who died in 1829 in Knox County, OH. Jemima was born in Franklin County, PA. Hiram Dunbar was born in Kentucky. Hiram and Jemima moved west, to Hennepin, Bureau County, IL and then to Atkinson, Henry County, IL. In about 1850, Hiram and his oldest son, John went to the California Gold Rush and came back wealthy. After that Hiram earned a living buying, selling and renting property and lending money. He purchased land near Piper, KS. This is where my gr-grandfather met Catharine Coffey. Her father had come from Ireland, although she was born in NY.

Another area of interest are the families in Zeeland, Netherlands who came to Atkinson and Annawan, IL, the Verbeke (Verbeck)family. I am working intensely on the Renquin family from Bastogne Belgium. This is a large family that has lived in Bastogne for 200 years or more. Other names from Bastogne are Soulier, Charbo, Sillier, Waxweiller, (Waserveiller, Waxveiller)La Farque, Mazoin, Roission and Fay and many others. The Waxveiller is orginally from Bitbourg, Germany. Just outside of Bastogne in Journal, Erneauville etc, all in Luxembourg, Belgium are the Mazoin, Masuin, Masoin families. As with many of you, genealogy is a hobby, in my case starting in in 1996. I've included a brief amount of information in my tree to identify the people in it. I may have other information and am willing to share and/or exchange. If you have any additions or changes, I would love to hear from you.

I have entered information under the REPORT section of this page. I hope you find the information or name you are looking for in my tree, but if you don't keep on trying. And good luck to you in your search.
