The Schömbs Family Tree

Updated May 14, 2009

This Webpage offers the family tree of Zacharias Schömbs (1645-1707) of Undenheim, Germany. Those citizens of the world with the family names of SCHÖMBS, SCHOEMBS, SCHOMBS, SCHEMBS, SCHAMBS, and SCHEMES are all descended from Zacharias. Many people in the tree have descended through female lines, and obviously have different surnames.

Generally the objective is to include all descendants of Zacharias into a single tree. This becomes difficult, however, for a couple of reasons: First, we have identified several descendants of Zacharias whose exact connection into the tree is not yet known; Second, we have and will in the future gain information of new branches where the numbers of descendants in the new branches are big (i.e. really big). To incorporate this second group into the tree makes the database larger and slows down the response time, which is sometimes a problem. We might choose in certain cases to present these new larger family trees separately, clearly identifying the connection into the master tree of Zacharias. The first example of this is Wolfgang and Christina Münsenberger, emigrants in about 1850 to Amerika. Wolfgang descended from Zacharias Schömbs. The Münsenberger tree includes about 1000 people.

The Zacharias database includes more than 4,000 descendants of Zacharias and Anna Magdalena Schömbs (exclusive of the Muensenberger and other trees separately presented). Family members in Germany, Russia, Canada, Brazil, Taiwan, France, Ireland, Switzerland, Netherlands, Japan, Scotland and the United States are included.

This webpage is in continual development. Please send us email if you have interest in, or are a descendant of, this family. Also let us know if you would like us to notify you of enhancements to the website.

In GEDCOM Trees you will find the family trees. Some people have had trouble using it. Be sure to read the instructions shown below the tree. Use the "Find" function to locate yourself or others in the Tree. Then move up or down the tree (right or left) by clicking on the box of the parent/child. If the Find function does not seem to work, click on any box in the tree and try it again. Email us if you are still having trouble.

Most of the information about Zacharias Schömbs and his descendants is available on the ZACHARIAS SCHÖMBS WORLDSITE (www.schembs.com). Please be sure to click the link below to this valuable and extensive resource.
